Welcome to the Santa Rita & Bolsa Knolls Watershed Group's website!
Who we are:
We are a local group raising awareness about the impact of urban and agricultural runoff on our local watershed. Through grants we are able to hold events like the Santa Rita Creek Fair, as well as rain barrel building work shops, storm drain stenciling, oral history project, and educational presentations.
Currently, we are involved in grant application for creek restoration which includes Santa Rita Park and near Ferrasci Park. We will continue to look for volunteers to continue the storm drain stenciling campaign and oral history project. Just recently we were awarded a grant from the Community Foundation of Monterey County. This grant will allow us to hold our Third Annual Creek Fair and a community survey to find out how we can better serve our local area. Without grants like this, we would not be able to hold our events. So a BIG THANK YOU to the Community Foundation of Monterey County! We appreciate it! |
Our local watershed
The EPA defines a watershed as " An area of land where all the water that is under it or drains off it goes to the same place". Watersheds come in all shapes and sizes. They cross country, state, and national borders. In the continental US, there are 2,110 watersheds.
